Me: *promises to post at least 4 times month*
Me: *realises i have to come up with post ideas*
Today i’m going to be unoriginal and post a tag!! Because I don’t know how to blog!! 😊😊
PANCAKES & A SPRINKLING OF SUGAR
a book that has a dusting of beautiful prose/descriptions
I could go with Laini Taylor but I’m going with a book I’ve read this year…and it’s one of my FAVOURITES and that’s The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern. I’m pretty sure everyone knows that Morgenstern has really beautiful books – The Night Circus is breathtaking – and The Starless Sea is somehow even more gorgeous! I find it kinda unfair how there’s not a magical, beautifully painted door for me to step into where I then disappear into an enchanting, elaborate library forever…But whatever!! (this is not okay) anyways, this book is a MASTERPIECE and if you love flowery prose…then this is the book for you.
PANCAKES & LEMON DRIZZLE
a sharp character in wit or temperament
Is this post just an excuse for me to rant about my favourite books? YES. And I’m not complaining. I’m going to go with another favourite of this year…You Deserve Each Other. The main couple actually hates each other for the first half of this book…AND THEY HAVE THE BEST BANTER and by that i mean they ROAST EACH OTHER WONDERFULLY and all the time. So, please read my favourite book and be prepared for Naomi and Nicholas to take over your life!
PANCAKES & CHOCOLATE NUTELLA DRIZZLE
a comforting read you could devour again & again
I actually did a post on all my comfort reads here! Any of those could be an answer for this question…But am I going to go with Aristotle and Dante because I’m predictable…Yeah, and what about it? This book makes me sad!! It makes me happy!! It makes me cry!! It is my favourite book of all time!! I love the characters so much!! I will never tire of re-reading it!!
PANCAKES & GOLDEN SYRUP
a novel that gave you a seriously bad book hangover
Ummm….I literally want to say You Deserve Each Other Again because i’m Basic and incapable of not thinking about it every 5 seconds…but for the sake of answering differently for every question…I’ll say The Sky is Everywhere! I remember the first time I read it, I just went back to re-read certain passages over and over again because JANDY NELSON OWNS MY LIFE AND I’M NOT COMPLAINING!!
PANCAKES, STRAWBERRIES, & CREAM
a book that gave you all the indulgent feels!
Caraval by Stephanie Garber! I haven’t talked about this series in a long time on my blog (mostly because the last book…was disappointing to say the least) but I truly do love these characters and this world. Like its…trash and i KNOW It. but does that stop me from being obsessed and reading these books in a matter of hours…no.
PANCAKES & BLUEBERRIES
a character that seems sharp at first, but actually has hidden depths
WARNER MY PSYCHOTIC BABY!!! Even though i liked him from book one, he seems kinda terrible up until Ignite Me and then shows his true colours and I JUST LOVE HIM SO MUCH (we dont talk about warner post ignite me,,, though that one scene in Imagine Me snapped) anyways this is such a typical answer!!! But i love him!! And warnette is a POWER couple convince me otherwise, you can’t.
PANCAKES & BANANA TOFFEE
a book with a slippery plot that kept you guessing!
All The Bad Apples by Moira Dowley Foyle! This is a recent read of mine so I haven’t talked about it much but I love this book so much!! While being a delightfully queer feminist story, its also very creepy and magical…and I was constantly trying to put the pieces together to understand the story!!
PANCAKES & CRISPY BACON
a romantic pairing you weren’t sure you’d like at first, but ended up being the perfect match!
Sam & Evie from The Diviners series! I was firmly a Jericho and Evie shipper until book 3 and while I’m still annoyed about how their dynamic was handled in book 4…I can’t complain because Sam is such a perfect match for Evie (how did I not notice this before?) and they are SO adorable together!!
Also special shout out to Magiano & Adelina (I read The Young Elites ages ago) I remember being so cautious about them after book one but THEY WERE CUTE AND PURE!!
PANCAKES & PEANUT BUTTER
a character that makes you recoil
AHEM I COULD MAKE A LIST!! But Mal from the Grisha Trilogy was a RAT and I HATE HIM and no one could annoy me more than him. I literally hate him with every fibre of my being!! He’s so ANNOYING and hypocritical and only likes Alina when she’s gone…like no bitch you should’ve appreciated her when she’s with you. I can’t even remember all the reasons I hate him because I read these books so long ago but I WILL NEVER NOT HATE HIM. (also Mr Wickham from Pride and Prejudice doesn’t deserve rights)
PANCAKES WITH A BIT OF EVERYTHING!
a book with wonderfully diverse characters
Ink & Bone by Rachel Caine – I haven’t talked about this series in SO long but its criminally underrated (I still haven’t read the series finale but will do when my library opens) I love the characters SO much and its so casually diverse!! Khalila is a muslim (and its my favourite muslim representation like ever? And hijabi in fantasy!! Hold me!!) and there’s an m/m couple and an ace character too! So really we’re winning!!! Writing this makes me realise how much I miss this cast :((
Who else realised how many of these book covers are blue? Also I wasn’t tagged but feel free to do this tag if you want! What’s the last book that gave you a book hangover? And what character do you hate with everything in your soul? I’d love to hear your rants! What’s your favourite pancake topping?
