March Whispers // Blogging Slump, Reading Slump but hey? I went to Spain!!

The word March begins with M, and you know what else does? Mess. Which is exactly what this month was.

You know after the weird catastrophe of February, I thought hey! March is gonna be MY month. Well, I was wrong.

Several things happened including me not posting FOR A WHOLE MONTH. I swear, I have excuses and reasons but we’ll come to my ramblings later on in the recap! For now, let’s jump in – I’m excited to tell you about THE THINGS I did in March!!

BOOKS

This month I read 6 books (2133 pages). This is one less book than I would have hoped to read but I still read quite a decent amount!

The Truth About Keeping Secrets by Savannah Brown ★★★★☆ // I love Savannah Brown, so I anticipating this release GREATLY. I read the e-arc and I really really enjoyed it!

Highly Illogical Behaviour by John Corey Whaley ★★★★☆ // Uhm I cried? I’m not even sure why, but i think it’s because I became VERY emotionally attached to Solomon!!

The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Herman ★☆☆☆☆ // My second 1 star of the year and honestly, TEA. I was expecting to love this book with my WHOLE HEART. I have followed the author for so long, and the premise sounded like everything I want in a book. But it was BORING!! Full review coming soon.

The Boy Who Steals Houses by CG Drews ★★★★★ // Honestly, THANK YOU CAIT for blessing me with my only 5 star of this month. I didn’t think it could get any better than her debut, but Hi I Met The DeLainey Family and now I’m in love with Moxie and everyone else, oops.

Ace Of Shades by Amanda Foody ★★★★.5☆ // A re-read of one of my faves of 2018! My rating did go down by 0.5 but that’s only because I’ve become more critical of a reader! I still enjoyed this SO MUCH and I love Levi Glaiyser.

King Of Fools by Amanda Foody [undecided rating] // Okay, look. I didn’t like 70% of this book. In fact, I was thoroughly annoyed with everything and everyone for so long. I couldn’t get into it + it was slow. Then after that 70% I completely FELL IN LOVE with the plot and drama and IT WAS SO TWISTY!! So how do I even rate this? I don’t know.

Overall, I had a okay reading month! Like even though it was generally good, I read little nothing near the end of the month which just didn’t feel good. My average rating was 3.8 stars.

BOOK HAUL

Thank you to Hachette, BKMRK for the free copy of The Boy Who Steals Houses. Thank you to Tiger (Stripes) Publishing for sending over My So Called Bollywood Life and Patron Saints of Nothing proofs for free.

I actually quite like my average of hauling 3 books per month? It feels good, like I’m not hoarding too much but still getting new titles on my shelf!

LIFE

I went to Spain!! Honestly, it was SO much fun. I went there for four days and went to many different places and WHEW, I want to go back. It’s so beautiful, the architecture is WOW, and the weather is just perfect over there. Here are some pictures! (I took over 200 oops)

I didn’t post for a whole month! And there are real reasons for this. For week 1 of March, I was just ?? Not in the mood for posting. I had planned a post but I didn’t write it. And then week 2, I went Spain so I had no time to write a post! And then week 3, I was going to write a post but THEN GUESS WHAT? My laptop broke and I had to wait to order a new one. And then hey it’s the end of March and I’m posting this.

I feel like I’m in a reading slump. I didn’t think I’d hit one so early in the year but after Spain, where I didn’t read anything, I just felt not motivated to read. King of Fools was so long and slow and that just made everything WORSE. I’m trying to re-read Bone Gap and also finish Summer Bird Blue in time for the blog tour, but I don’t know. 😦

I didn’t do any blog hopping this month either which is why I have no favourite posts of this month section or whatever. March was really good because SPAIN but then the rest of it was just super overwhelming and bad.

GOALS

goals from last month:

I hope you get out of your reading slump soon. I have been blessed enough that I haven’t reached one yet this year, but it’s just one of those things that is bound to happen at one point. I will probably catch up on some TV shows and podcasts in the mean time, to help me feel productive nonetheless.
The snippets also sound amazing! I love this already!
Wishing you a great April! 💞
