March was a GREAT month for me!

I kind-of drowned in book mail. In a good way though! I GOT SO MANY ANTICIPATED RELEASES and gah, I’m so excited about most of the books I received! Publishers are so amazing ❤ Initially, I thought I had a good reading month but then when i wrote my reviews, my ratings went down…so, ha! Still, I enjoyed most of my reads and I’m glad for that.

And you know what? This recap is late but do I care? Yes, I do care very much this was supposed to be up a week ago but then I ended up procrastinating so 😉

Anyways, let’s jump into the recap!

BOOKSI read 6 books. Ahaha I’m okay with this, to be honest!! I’m not over the moon but I think it was an okay month for reading.

Simon Vs The Homosapien Agenda by Becki Albertalli ★★★☆☆ // it was good! overhyped! enjoyable! but it just wasn’t 5 stars or something that stood out to me. [read my review here]

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black ★★★(.5)☆☆ // Hate to love romance!!! JUDE AND CARDAN!!! I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!! AHHHH, again didn’t live up to the hype but good! [read my review (that i worked very hard on) here]

The Astonishing Color Of After by Emily X R Pan ★★★★★ //  IM CRYING THIS IS MY FAVOURITE BOOK OF 2018 IT WAS SO DAMN GOOD I LOVE IT SO MUCH THAT IS ALL.  [read my review here (this book means so much to me so please check out my review for this one?]

Where She Went by Gayle Forman ★★☆ ☆☆  // I honestly did not care about anything?? Adam was okay, hated Mia and it was boring. [read my review here]

Legendary by Stephanie Garber  ★★★★★  // OH MY GOSH!!!! I got to read an ARC of Legendary and it was so damn good YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND!! [rtc]

A Thousand Perfect Notes by CG Drews  ★★★★★ //This was a re-read and YES, I did love it as much as the first time!!! IT WAS SO DAMN GOOD.  [see my review here]

I received 11 books this month!  
But look the book haul this month…JUST LOOK AT IT!! ALL MY ANTICIPATED RELEASES. (Also yes, I somehow ended up with ANOTHEr copy of The Hazel Wood I HAVE NO IDEA HOW??)
  • LEGENDARY!!! BY STEPHANIE GARBER!! I read it like the day after I received it because I was so excited and it WAS AMAZING and I am still in disbelief I received an ARC of it (it is so pretty)
  • A Thousand Perfect Notes by Cait!!! I read the e-arc and then the physical arc came in the mail and I SCREAMED!!! Then proceeded to re-read it!!
  • Ace Of Shades by Amanda Foody!! DO YOU KNOW HOW HAPPY I AM I GOT AN EARLY FINISHED COPY!??! NO, YOU DAMN DONT.

BLOGGING

So if you didn’t see my latest post, I’m taking a more relaxed stance to blogging! This has made me so much happier so far. I’m reading more books, spending more time doing things I want and I am starting to feel more positive towards blogging.

LIFE

  • It was International Woman’s Day!! Honestly, a great day in history. I loved seeing the positivity and celebration on Twitter!
  • May sent me a short story she wrote and DAMN WAS IT GOOD??? I loved it so much ahhhh. (she better win otherwise i’m gonna kill someone) (she also doesn’t know who Tracy beaker is)
  • I made a Bookstagram! I post on it randomly but I’m happy to have started my journey here! It’s super fun and though I’m not fully involved in the community, I enjoy my time there.
  • I didn’t dress up for World Book Day because I had like, 0 ideas but it was a fun day because I bought a book!!! The book fair was also a great place to force people to buy Children of Blood and Bone 🙂
  • I made muffins but THEY ABSOLUTELY FAILED guys. I’m crying. They were okay but really not my best. I think I just chose a really bad recipe.
  • I’m on a break and I’m having fun! Luckily the weather is good so I can like go out in the garden and outside so that’s good!!
  • March was just a really great month for me mostly because the weather improved!! Like I feel so demotivated when it’s gloomy but I feel SOOOO GOOD when the sun is out!!
  • I don’t want to go back to school. EVER.

  2. I’m glad you’re more relaxed now that you’re on break! Also, I would totally follow your bookstagram… if I had an instagram lol. ALSO I love how you include your monthly goals. It’s very go-getter of you and I hope you can achieve all of your April goals 👏🏽.
    Ooo and I noticed you read Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. Have you watched the movie?

And yeah, I didn’t have a bookstgram for a while and everyone was like “PLS FOLLOW MY INSTA” and im just like “ILY BUT I DONT HAVE ONE!!” I don’t even look at my goals after I make them which is bad but I end up achieving loads of them anyways!! I haven’t watched the movie but I do want to!!

  4. Even with your ‘bad’ reading month you still read a good amount of books! (I haven’t even finished 1 book this month – yikes!) Yeah, I’ve noticed that a lot of blogs haven’t been posting much and/or are on hiatus (me included), I guess there are just a lot of exams and such that people have and everyone is just busy? Also, thank you for the share of my post, means a lot as always ❤

  7. I’m glad to hear you overall had a lovely month and that this relaxing approach to blogging is working out well, so far?! You had such a great reading month as well and wow, all of these books from publishers, you’re so lucky, that’s amazing. I really want to read In Search of Us, it sounds exactly like my kind of read (and that edition’s cover is so pretty as well!). So glad you loved The Astonishing Color, I can’t WAIT to read that one… but yeah I’m not buying any books right now, so I’ll probably read it in a couple months but still, I AM IMPATIENT haha 😀

  10. I’m looking forward to the leaves on the trees to start budding! 😀 And March was a great reading month for me. I felt like I got a lot done. And I’m doing Nano but I am finishing my first draft of my project form last November because I already had my outline and I was too lazy to prep for something different. XD

  11. Hey Ilsa!! It’s been soo long since I read one of your posts since I was also taking a break from blogging!! I’ve read ‘doll bones’ written by Holly Black, but I haven’t read any other book of hers. Have you read doll bones? In May, I want to focus on blogging mainly! I want to be on to date with all my blogs for sure ( which will never happen!)

  13. OH MY ILSA THAT IS ONE KICKASS BOOK HAUL!! I am so jealous you got the Legendary ARC! I still haven’t heard back from them and at this point, I’m probably not going to get a copy anymore but GOOD LORD IS IT A PRETTY ONE. And I’m so happy to hear that you already read and loved it!

    Can I please yell at you for the 3 stars for Simon VS? That’s just not okay. On any level. But YES to The Astonishing Colour Of After! That book was so, so good! And YAY to creating a bookstagram! I’ve recently started using mine as more of a bookstagram account too and it’s so much fun? But also so much work to get people to interact with your posts. xD I feel like I’m starting at the very beginning again and it sucks. xD But at least it’s a ton of fun to take pictures and share them online! 🙂

    I’ve pretty much given up on NaNo or Camp NaNo. I don’t think I’m currently in a place where writing is something I enjoy doing (apart from the blog, obviously) and I don’t want to get myself down for NOT REACHING A GOAL just because I’m not in the right place, you know? Are you going to try and still do more for Camp NaNo? Or are you done with it?

    As far as bookish things I’m looking forward to, there is OBVIOUSLY Leah On The Offbeat and I’m slowly starting to think I might love it as much as I did Simon VS even though I was a bit worried at first because I didn’t enjoy Becky’s The Upside Of Unrequited as much. But I THINK Leah has the potential to be so much more relatable to me and I cannot wait to be back at Creekwood High! Plus, as a big Shadowhunter Chronicles fan I was also super excited for the first novella in a new bind-up and I’ve already read and loved it so that was AWESOME.

      I’m sorry but it wasn’t that good and my expectations were so HIGH but it was just soooo average?! The astonishing color of after is my fave book of 2018 I LOVE ITTTT. it’s just so good. i love it. I don’t really do much on bookstagram and I haven’t posted there for a while OOPS. I didn’t end up doing CAMP NANO and for the same reason. i didn’t feel motivated to write and didn’t want to force myself too.

      AHHH did you end up enjoying Leah? i heard mixed things. I STILL HAVEN’T READ IT even tho netgalley gave me an early copy, IM SUCH A BAD BLOGGER
