Evil Marmalade, Spiders, Dragons & World Domination = THE BOOK BLOGGING QUEEN!!! [Interview with Cait @ Paper Fury]

We don’t need a rocket scientist to know that we’re talking about the most awesome book blogger in the universe.

AHEM ME.

Juuuussst Kidding…I WOULD have won that title but it’s a fact that I’m an Ice cream advertising blog so I’ll have to give this one to Cait. *grumbles*

BUT ON TO MY EXCITEMENT. If you don’t know Cait’s blog…would you like to see a doctor? Are you alive? Are you living? (spoiler: you’re not) *squints* No, no I’m pretty sure you’re a dead corpse. Why aren’t you buried yet?

WELL YES, I am only 97% excited and then 963838% exploding with all the emotions so don’t mind me. I am sane. When I scarily asked Cait if I could interview her I thought she was going to release her mini troop of books and stab me. Or you know, be a fire-breathing dragon and kill me like that. Much quicker. 10/10 recommended.

So, if you haven’t guessed (THE TITLE) I’m going to be interviewing Cait and wonder if I like to ramble (AHEM I DO) so without further ado…! THE INTERVIEW. (that rhymed. I’m a poet and I didn’t even KNOW it)

Long-Divider

1. INTRODUCE YOURSELF, VULCAN QUEEN

Hello, all! I’m Cait and I blog over at paperfury.com about wild things such as books, writing, cake, and whether or not marmalade is evil. (Spoiler: it is.) I live in Australia and don’t believe the vicious rumours about all the spiders. Oh yes, they are simply ginormous, but we’re all friends! We invite them out to dinner, play croquet, exchange scone recipes, that sort of thing. I also love reading all things YA, I play the piano, and I want to be an author when I grow up.

Long-Divider2. ONE PLACE YOU’D TRAVEL TO FROM A BOOK

I’d definitely go to Red London from the A Darker Shade of Magic series! It’s so magical and richly amazing and I’m sure I could be a good magician. I could at least wear a fabulous red coat??

Long-Divider3. ONE BLOGGER FRIEND YOU WANT TO MEET

I have no idea! I have so many lovely friends online!

Long-Divider4. PERKS OF BEING AUSTRALIAN

Obviously exchanging scone recipes with the spiders, as mentioned before. Also, Australians have these delicious things called lamingtons which are basically chocolate cake and coconut and they are the building blocks of our country. And I can’t forget the glory that is Aussie YA! It’s a bit hard to get outside of Australia, but we have some intensely fantastic authors here like Jay Kristoff, Steph Bowe, Cath Crowley, and Melina Marchetta.

Long-Divider5. THE UPSIDES OF BOOK BLOGGING

Gathering a small army of dedicated book lovers, paying them in promises of cake, and then marching them at dawn to smite THE DARKNESS.

…And also meeting people who flail over the books I love is nice too. #MinorDetails

Long-Divider6. FANGIRL-WORTHY BOOKS

Anything was written by Maggie Stiefvater! She is my #1 author and I’m ridiculously in love with her complex characters, magical and whimsical worlds, slight creeptastic vibes, and addictively beautiful writing. Excuse me while I just GUSH FOREVER.

Long-Divider7. RELEASE DATES FOR YOUR BOOKS

I’m looking to publish traditionally, so it’s not up to me! There are so many factors beyond my control, but fingers crossed for someday, eh!??

Long-Divider8. FAVOURITE WORD

DRAGON.

Long-Divider9. AN AUTHOR YOU WANT TO MEET

I’m wildly shy so meeting authors aren’t on top of my priority list, I’ll be honest! I do think listening to Maggie Stiefvater talk on writing would be amazing though. I’d love to pick up tips on (a) how to be an exquisite writer and (b) how to be just so fabulous all of the time.

Long-Divider10. PLANS TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD

Mostly by talking about food and pretty books a lot so people don’t even notice when I’ve snatched the planets out from underneath them. You know Jupiter? It’s mine now. The people there haven’t even noticed yet because they’re still eating cake. Earth is next.

Short-Divider

To Be or Not To Be round:

1) Cake or Books? THIS IS CRUEL AND I PROTEST ADAMANTLY BECAUSE YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT EITHER
2) Fantasy or Contemporary? Fantasy 100%!
3)Reading or Writing? Reading. ❤ Writing is my everything, but I couldn’t write if I didn’t read.
4)Blogging or Tweeting? Blogging! I have too many words to say.
5) Dragons or Taking Over The World? I’ll take over the world with dragons (and yes I realise I’m breaking the rules for this round of questions but I’m a notorious rebel. What can I say.)

Let's Whisper

Was this hilarious or was this hilarious? Do you love Cait’s blog (of course you do)?  Where would go if you could travel to a book setting? And what author would you choose to meet? Do you think marmalade is evil? And do you like spiders?

  1. MARMALADE IS GOLDEN GOODNESS😍😍😍
Loved this interview! I definitely need to read more of Cait’s blog. I’ve heard of her ( I mean, everyone has! ) but I’ve never read her blog! I need to fix that ASAP!!

  2. Well done for conquering your fears, Ilsa! And also, you ARE the ice cream blogging queen. It’s a shame you only blog about that, though. I mean, no mention of books anywhere??? XD

  3. *IS STILL FANGIRLING OVER THE FACT THAT YOU INTERVIEWED CAIT* And we all knew she couldn’t pick between books and cake. (Also I totally agree with the reading vs. writing thing — my writing only exists because of all the books I’ve read!)

AND NO. HER TAKING OVER THE WORLD STRATEGIES ARE SO GOOD. I would totally be too interested in my cake to notice that she’s conquering the world. (Tho cake isn’t my… ~preferred~ dessert…)

OMG CAN I HAVE A LAMINGTON BECAUSE THAT SOUNDS SO FRICKING GOOD. And I’d totally go to Red London as well! Or maybe White London. To see where Holland… you know. *sobs*

And gosh, I’m sure Cait will be a published author in the next years; her writing is amazing. ❤ Great interview!

    1. TRUST ME, i will be forever (and everly) fangirling over this post. I definitely would pick reading over writing but hope i never have to make that choice ❤ Cake is not my preferred dessert but CHOCOLATE CAKE ❤ ❤ ❤ I LOVE. And I definitely want to try a Lamington, why can't I be Aussie? This seems unfair. I'm sure she HAS to be a published author because her fans will die if they have to wait too long.

  4. This is hilarious and amazing!
Though, I can’t help but wonder what a spider’s scone recipe would taste like? When it comes to food I am frightfully cowardly about trying new or questionable things. But perhaps spider’s have better taste in scones than you would expect.

  5. Oh this is such a great interview, also you interviewed the queen of blogging, aren’t you like, TOO EXCITED ABOUT THIS, because I am for you ahah. 😀
All of these spider talks is giving me the chills, ahah, I hate spiders but would love to go to Australia… I think I have a problem here hahaha.
    I can’t wait to read Cait’s books someday 🙂

  6. Dear Cait’s blog is indeed humorous and I read it frequently. That is awesome that you braved the dragon queen and were able to get an interview with her! I am impressed.
If I could travel to a book world it would be Hobbiton. Not very exciting, but I don’t really want death. I like reading about it, but when it comes to myself, I want the most comfortable place possible, and that is a hobbit hole full of food and books.
Meeting new humans sounds absolutely terrifying, so I will just go to Charles Dickens, C.S. Lewis, and J.R.R. Tolkien’s graves and have a (hopefully) one sided conversation. That wouldn’t be as intimidating as meeting an actual live author in person. Besides, all my favorite authors are dead, so..
I have never eaten marmalade, but I like the word, so I don’t think it is evil. How could something with name like marmalade be evil?

    1. WHY THANK YOU!!! I am shocked at myself too!
OMG, yeesss, I sooooo want to live n a hobbit hole. Not much of adventure but comfort and so many room and BOOKWORM DREAS ❤ Talking to a grave would creep me out? Especially dead authors one but??? Marmalade is a nice word to say, I've never had it either. Well…it's perhaps secretly evil. And Cait knows secrets!

  7. THIS WAS HILARIOUS. I love Cait”s blog, it’s so aesthetic-ly beautiful!

I’ve never really had marmalade, but it sounds pretty good to me. *realizes I will be stabbed by tiny book army* *fumbles to rephrase before being stabbed* I MEAN, of course marmalade is evil! Why wouldn’t it be??

If I had to pick a book setting to go to, it’d probably be either Middle Earth, or the (still nameless) land from Charis’s book, Stranger Tides.

AGH I DON’T KNOW. Lisa McMann, maybe? Jennifer Donnelley? J.K. Rowling? There’s to many fantastic authors to choose from!!

And yes, I love spiders! I’m considering getting a tarantula….

    Liked by 1 person

      1. Haha, we can say it is evil and actually be clueless together! YES TARANTULA! My dad had one before I was born, and he said they’re really cool. (Plus, it’ll be a great way to creep out my friend and make him scream like a girl. Which he does.)

  8. I think the real question here is WHAT IN THE FREAKING HECK IS MARMALADE??? ISN’T IT LIKE A LEMONADE OR SOMETHING??

Also yes, I 10000% love Cait’s blog *flails with you*

I would love to meet Leigh Bardugo because she is 500% the book author queen. Along with all the other authors I adore.

  9. um of course i love cait’s blog! She is actually the reason that I decided I needed to just stop being a fluff and start my own blog. So I did, and now here we are and I haven’t imploded yet. #winning
I’ve gotta say I would also like to go to Red London!! I mean, I’d like to go to all Londons. Really, I’d just like to be a trusted confidant of Kell and have my own awesome coat made and he and i can match and hang out with Lila.
Don’t tell me that doesn’t sound amazing!
THANKS FOR DOING THE THING I’M TOO SCARED TO DO I LOVED THIS.

Well…I live in London so I’m one step there! I’ve searched for Kell”s coat but I’m pretty sure Alucard or someone has brought all of them to annoy Kell. *sigh*
